Tucker

We just returned from a trip to a rainforest, so I’ll have an additional journal entry. Tucker refers to groceries or food. Meals usually consist of breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Then there are morning and afternoon tea, as well as “supper”, which is served about 9 pm All tea times include a bickie. Messing up our South Beach dieting attempts! We trekked yesterday morning and arrived on the mountain top to billy tea and damper with golden syrup. Cattlemen usually carry flour and salt in their saddle bags and mix this with water and then bake “Damper” atop their shovel (wonder what else the shovel was used for!) Golden syrup is wonderful—cane sugar extract that’s liquefied.
Chilly in the mountains so we were glad to have a jumper (sweater) and hooded jacket. We had a “brelly” (umbrella) but the forest was too dense to use it.
Newspapers are filled with memoirs for Steve Irwin. Australia Zoo (and Steve’s home) is about 30 min. from where we live. He was popular in US long before he was recognized here, but now has many friends here too.
